During the official visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to China, one of the most important political meetings of the year took place — talks between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The negotiations were held in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People and lasted for more than two hours. International media described the event as an attempt to stabilize relations between the world’s two largest economies after several years of trade and political tensions.

The American delegation included not only White House officials and advisers, but also representatives of major businesses. Among the guests were Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Apple CEO Tim Cook, as well as representatives of financial, energy, and technology companies from the United States. The Chinese side organized an official welcoming ceremony for Trump, highlighting the importance of the visit for Beijing.

The main topic of the negotiations was economic relations between the United States and China. The sides discussed tariffs, technology sanctions, microchip exports, and access for American companies to the Chinese market. The United States sought to reduce the trade imbalance and secure more open conditions for American businesses, while China insisted on easing restrictions on high technologies and reducing U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods. Following the talks, both sides agreed to continue consultations on partially reducing tariffs and expanding cooperation in the fields of high technology and rare earth metals.

Special attention was also given to the issue of Taiwan. Xi Jinping once again stated that China considers Taiwan part of its territory and opposes any foreign interference. Donald Trump, in his public remarks, tried to avoid harsh statements in order not to provoke further tensions between the two countries.

The leaders also discussed Russia’s war against Ukraine. Trump stated that the United States and China could play an important role in finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. However, no concrete joint decisions or official peace plan were announced. In addition, the talks touched on security issues in the Middle East and the situation surrounding Iran.

Despite the lack of breakthrough agreements, both sides described the negotiations as constructive. Analysts believe the meeting was an important signal that Washington and Beijing are willing to maintain dialogue despite serious geopolitical disagreements. For China, Trump’s visit became a demonstration of the country’s growing international influence, while for the American president it was an opportunity to show his readiness to negotiate directly with the United States’ main strategic competitor.
